Privacy
Yo Money keeps what you write in it, and nothing else. There are no ads, there is no tracking, and your data is neither sold nor shared with anybody.

Who is responsible
Yo Money is made and maintained by José Pedro Fernandes, as an individual. For anything about privacy: josepedrofernandesaiao2@gmail.com.
This device only: nothing leaves the phone
The app has two modes, and you choose yours at the start. In this device only mode there is no account at all: no sign-up, no session, and nothing is sent to any server. Everything you write stays in the phone's own storage, and uninstalling the app deletes it.
The rest of this page is about cloud mode, which is the one that uses an account.
What is kept in the cloud
On your account:
- your email and name, as they come from signing in, and an internal account identifier;
- your preferences: language, theme, and the currency amounts are shown in;
- the date the account was created and, per platform (Android, iOS, web), the date and app version of the last sign-in. It is there to tell which versions are still in use before the server changes.
- whether the account has premium, and the day it ends. It is written by the server alone.
- whether you linked your Google or Apple account as another way to sign in, and the date you did.
In your records:
- expenses and income — the description you wrote, the amount, the date, the tags and the shop;
- tags — their names, and how you nested them;
- shops — the name, the tags you chose for it to put on an expense and, when it came from a scanned invoice, the shop's tax number;
- the invoice reference, when the record was created from a QR code. It is what lets the app warn you if you scan the same invoice twice.
- investments, if you use that section — the accounts you keep coins in (a name, a type and, for a wallet, its model), the coins (a symbol, a name and a price when you set one by hand), and each entry: its type, date and time, the quantity, the amount paid or received, the fee, the account, and the reason and the note you wrote. The app talks to no broker, wallet or price service: every figure is one you typed.
And nothing more. No location, no contacts, no advertising identifiers, and nothing about your phone beyond the platform and the app version.
Subscriptions and payments
Premium is bought inside the app, as a subscription of the store the app came from: Google Play on Android, the App Store on iPhone and iPad. You pay Google or Apple: your card or other payment method is handled by them and never reaches Yo Money. The seller is José Pedro Fernandes, whose details as a trader each store shows on the app's page.
When you subscribe, Yo Money keeps, tied to your account:
- the purchase identifier the store gives, so the server can ask it how the subscription stands, and the order or transaction number;
- the store and the plan (monthly or yearly), its state (active, cancelled, payment due, refunded…), until when it is paid for, and whether it renews;
- a history of every time the server spoke to the store about it — what changed and when — so that why premium started or stopped on a given day can be explained.
To keep this up to date the server asks the store about the purchase, and the store tells it when the subscription changes — a renewal, a cancellation, a refund. Yo Money sends Google or Apple nothing but your account's internal identifier, which travels with the purchase so it can be tied to you.
A subscription is cancelled in the store it was bought in. Deleting your account does not cancel it: cancel it first.
How you sign in
Signing in is handled by Microsoft Entra External ID. Your password is typed on a Microsoft page and never goes through the app — the app only receives a temporary access token. On the web that token is held in the browser's session storage, and is gone when you close the tab.
You can also sign in with your Google or your Apple account, or link one in the profile to an account you already have, when its email is the account's. It is your choice, and nothing changes if you never do. Google or Apple then confirms who you are: its identifier for your account there, your email and your name. Their password is typed on their own page and never reaches Yo Money. What is kept is that identifier, with Microsoft, so that it opens your account the next time. Nothing else is read from your Google or Apple account — no contacts, no files, no calendar. Each knows you used it to sign in to Yo Money, and handles that under its own privacy policy.
Apple lets you hide your email when you sign in. Yo Money then receives the forwarding address Apple makes for you in place of your own, and that is the email your account is kept under. An account made that way is one of its own: it cannot be linked to one you already have under your real address.
Where the data lives
- The server runs on Microsoft Azure, in the Spain region.
- The database is MongoDB Atlas, in the Paris region.
- The web version is served by Cloudflare Pages.
- Signing in is Microsoft Entra External ID — and Google's or Apple's own, when you choose to sign in with one of them.
- Subscriptions are Google Play's, and Google tells the server about them through Google Cloud — or the App Store's, and Apple tells the server about them directly.
The server and the database are both in the European Union. Everything between the app and the server is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). Microsoft, MongoDB and Cloudflare process the data on Yo Money's behalf and use it for nothing of their own. Google and Apple handle the payment themselves, each under its own privacy policy, and for Yo Money only keep and pass on how each purchase stands.
Technical logs
The server keeps operational logs — which requests arrived, when, and what failed — through Microsoft's Application Insights. Those logs can include the IP address a request came from. They exist to find faults, they are deleted automatically after 90 days, and they are not used to follow you around or joined with what you write in the app.
The camera
The app uses the camera only when you tap the button to read an invoice, and only to decode the QR code. The image is neither stored nor sent anywhere: what is kept is what the QR holds — amount, date, the shop's tax number and the invoice reference — and only once you confirm the record.
Backup files
You can export your records to a file. That file is created on your device and goes wherever you send it. It does not pass through our servers and, from then on, it is yours — and your responsibility.
What Yo Money never does
- it does not sell or rent your data to anybody;
- it never sees or keeps your card or any other payment details;
- it has no ads and no advertising identifiers;
- it has no behavioural analytics and no tracking cookies;
- it builds no profiles about you and makes no automated decisions;
- it reads your data for nothing other than showing it to you and keeping it safe.
For how long
For as long as you have an account. Your records are kept until you delete them, and the account until you delete it. What you sign in with — your email, your password, the link to your Google or Apple account — is kept by Microsoft for as long as the account, and is deleted with it.
That holds for an account without premium too. Nothing more is saved to the cloud then, but what is already there stays, and you can still read it, download it and delete it.
What is kept about your subscriptions stays for as long as the account, and goes with it when you delete it. Google or Apple keeps its own records of the purchase, which do not depend on Yo Money.
Your rights
- See and correct — it is all in the app, and that is where it is changed.
- Take it with you — the backup file, exported from your Profile, is your copy in an open format.
- Delete — from your Profile, with 30 days to change your mind. How to do it is on deleting your account.
If you believe your data is not being handled as it should be, you can complain to the Portuguese data protection authority, CNPD, or to the data protection authority of the country you live in.
Children
Yo Money is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect data from anybody under 13.
Changes to this policy
If this changes, the date at the top changes with it. If the change is a significant one, it will be said inside the app.
Privacidade
- o teu email e nome, tal como vêm do início de sessão, e um identificador interno da conta;
- as tuas preferências: idioma, tema, e a moeda em que os valores são mostrados;
- despesas e receitas — a descrição que escreveste, o valor, a data, as etiquetas e a loja;
- etiquetas — o nome, e a forma como as encaixaste umas nas outras;
- lojas — o nome, as etiquetas que escolheste para ela pôr numa despesa e, quando vem de uma fatura lida, o NIF da loja;
- o identificador da compra que a loja dá, para o servidor lhe poder perguntar como está a subscrição, e o número da encomenda ou da transação;
- a loja e o plano (mensal ou anual), o estado (ativa, cancelada, pagamento em falta, reembolsada…), até quando está paga, e se renova;
A câmara
- não vende nem aluga os teus dados a ninguém;
- não vê nem guarda o teu cartão nem nenhum outro dado de pagamento;
- não tem publicidade nem identificadores de publicidade;
- não tem ferramentas de análise de comportamento nem cookies de rastreio;
- não constrói perfis sobre ti nem toma decisões automatizadas;
- não lê os teus dados para nada que não seja mostrar-tos e guardá-los.
Durante quanto tempo
Enquanto tiveres conta.
